A standout for me was the iconic flowery wall—it’s impossible not to pause there for a quick photo, and the whimsical touches around the café—from vintage antiques to hand-drawn Peranakan-inspired ceiling artwork—lend it a warm, nostalgic soul. It truly balances elegance and homeliness in a way that makes you want to linger just a moment more.
Of course, the pastries and food lived up to the ambiance. I tried the Black Rice Nasi Lemak—made with nutty, antioxidant-rich ‘forbidden rice’, accompanied by prawn sambal, chicken curry, egg, and peanuts—it was an unforgettable twist on a local staple, rich in texture and soothingly familiar. For something sweet, their bakery counter tempted me with fresh croissants, almond danishes, and a dense yet not-too-sweet chocolate cake; the scone I had was a personal favourite—crispy on the outside and soft inside, with just a hint more butter and it would have been perfect.
