OUR REVIEW ON IGNIS MALAYSIA
I recently spent a cozy evening at Ignis tucked inside The Sphere at Bangsar South, and walking in felt like stepping into a refined yet rustic sanctuary of flame-kissed flavors. The minimalist interior—with touches of stone and wood, leafy views, and an open-fire kitchen—set a warm, stylish tone perfect for a date night or celebratory dinner. Sitting at the chef’s counter added a front-row seat to their craft as dishes were grilled over charcoal, mangrove, and even durian wood—infusing each plate with a smoky, nuanced char.
For food, I couldn’t resist starting with the charred asparagus topped with pistachio pesto and creamy burrata on sourdough—the nutty, smoky, and tangy notes were perfectly balanced and beautifully plated. The standout for me was the beef ribs claypot rice, with gochujang-glazed ribs melting over smoky nai pak, spicy rice, and fried shallots—comfort food elevated by wood-fired finesse. I also sampled the playful s’mores dessert, a crispy wafer sandwiching lychee-rose marshmallow and raspberry chocolate—messy, memorable, and delightfully unique. Overall, Ignis delivers a refined, creative, and innovative approach to wood-fired cooking—each dish feels thoughtful, visually striking, and infused with smoky depth.
