Dining at Cherry & Oak, the halal Asian smokehouse tucked away on Owen Road, felt like a flavourful adventure in smoked cuisine. I started with their Smoked Satay Madura Chicken—thick, juicy chicken cubes grilled over cherry and oak wood, smoky yet tender, with a peanut sauce that added a rich, nutty depth. Pairing it with the Rainbow Sausages platter offered a fun, colourful mix—original, beetroot, spinach, and curry-flavoured chicken sausages—all bursting with smokiness and served alongside fragrant Nasi Lemak Bakar, which added a subtly charred coconut rice note that complemented the meats splendidly. Each bite felt thoughtfully crafted—a smoky twist on familiar flavours that warmed you through and through.

The meal kept getting better. I shared a 200 g Black Angus beef brisket, slow-smoked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection and served with that same nasi lemak base—a combination so unexpectedly harmonious that I couldn’t stop raving about it . Ending on a sweet note, we indulged in the Cempedak Crème Brûlée—with its creamy custard infused with fragrant wild cempedak—it tasted like a nostalgic twist on a classic, with fruit pieces nicely embedded inside. The cozy, industrial-chic ambiance—complete with indoor-outdoor seating—paired with friendly, attentive service, made the experience feel both comfortable and a bit special .
