OUR REVIEW ON OUD RESTAURANT SINGAPORE
I recently had dinner at OUD Restaurant on Kandahar Street, and it was easily one of the more memorable halal fine-dining experiences I’ve had in Singapore. From the moment I walked in, the cozy and intimate vibe—accentuated by soft lighting and warm wood tones—set a welcoming mood. They began the evening with a basket of fresh house‑baked focaccia and a particularly delightful house‑made butter; one flavourful bite and I wondered why they didn’t sell that butter by the jar! The Krispy Fried Cauliflower was light, crispy, and coated with a tangy, umami-rich sauce—a simple dish done well and a perfect opener.
The standout for me was the Atlantic Miso Cod Fish (S$38): flaky, buttery, and infused with deep miso umami, elegantly roasted in corn husks for subtle smokiness. I also tried the Pressed Lamb Belly (S$38), a melt‑in‑your‑mouth portion glazed with sesame‑curry notes and perfect for sharing. Their signature OUD Fries were fun—crispy potato wedges topped with tuna and salmon tartare, which paired beautifully though the beef tartare was a bit more aggressive in flavor. Dessert-wise, the Mango Sorbet served in the hollowed-out fruit skin—topped with pops of finger lime and flowers—was refreshing and visually stunning, delivering a perfect palate cleanser after the richer courses.
