OUR REVIEW ON PAUL SINGAPORE

I recently visited PAUL at Tanglin Mall and left with a fond appreciation for its blend of Parisian café heritage and Singaporean brunch culture. Walking in, the sophisticated yet comfortable ambience instantly appealed to me—soft lighting, wooden tables, and the aroma of freshly baked croissants created a welcoming vibe. We dove straight into their All-Day Breakfast options: the Smoked Salmon on Potato Pancake stole the show, with rich, flaky salmon perched on a crispy potato base, topped with a perfectly poached egg that elevated the dish beyond standard brunch fare. I also tried the Omelette Complete, filled with turkey ham, cheese, spinach, and served alongside grilled tomatoes, sausage, bacon, and toast—a hearty plate that tasted fresher than most scrambled replacements you get elsewhere.

For mains, I sampled the Beef Stroganoff Pasta and the Beef Short Ribs, both executed with warmth and precision. The pasta offered tender strips of beef in a creamy sauce balanced by a hint of acidity, while the short ribs were buttery soft, with sides of well-grilled vegetables and balanced sauce that invited mopping up every last bit. No meal at PAUL is complete without something sweet—so I had their Strawberry Tart and a Pain au Chocolat. The tart struck a nice balance of sweetness and texture, and the croissant-like pastry was delightfully crispy and buttery. The service was polished and courteous: staff were efficient, professional, and attentive, making suggestions and ensuring we were comfortable without hovering.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience, it’s worth noting that prices skew toward the higher side, especially for drinks and lunch entrées like the Miso Codfish (S$39.90) or Duck Confit (S$33.90). These dishes were well-prepared and beautifully plated but felt a bit rich for what you might expect out of a mall café environment. Some patrons have also mentioned inconsistencies between outlets—particularly in dessert quality or pastry crispness—which may vary depending on location or day.
